In all fairness although I've seen lots of clips from the original movie, I must admit that I've only ever seen the dubbed (Fox) version. However, in the cases of the totoros, I've used the Japanese names because they were never really distinguished between in the English dub. With the Cat Bus (NekoBasu), I switch back and forth between the English and Japanese names. I hope that it's not too difficult to understand that way.
