Chu totoro is the medium-size, blue totoro.When you first see him, he's carrying a bag of nuts with a hole in the bottom of it that leaves a trail when he walks and runs.

Mei follows this trail through the thicket and then follows him to the hollow where O Totoro is sleeping.

Satsuki doesn't meet Chu totoro until the night when they all help the seeds in the garden to grow.
